About Sandra

Sandra Bond
Psychologist
Psychotherapist
Expert Companion

I have been practicing psychology since 2004, I really enjoy the work I do and want the best for my clients. I have grown and learnt that every person I work with has different needs and because of this, the flow of therapy changes with each client. I work with adults one on one.

As a psychotherapist my work is relational and based in attachment so building a therapeutic relationship with my clients is the most important part of therapy. It is through this relationship there is safety to talk about difficulties and explore what may be causing distress and disturbance.

I have spent my career specialising in trauma and I help people process and make sense of things that have happened in their life. I specialise in complex presentations and am open to working with adults who have complex trauma histories.

I have a particular interest in supporting those that have served in the military as this is part of the reason I became a Psychologist.

I also have particular interest in reprocessing trauma through EMDR; growth after trauma; and suicidality.

Working with adults one-on-one I give them time and space to reconnect with their inner resources, to make sense of and heal from their trauma. My approach to therapy draws from a number of evidence based approaches, I have formally trained in and have a preference for EMDR Psychotherapy and I have spent many years training in and learning about Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT).

I have a love of learning and a curious mind and I continually learn and practice new things in service of my clients. I have many influences and follow the work of Thomas Joiner on suicidality; Richard Tedeschi on Post Traumatic Growth; Russ Harris on Acceptance Commitment Therapy; Brene Brown and her research on emotions, particularly shame and vulnerability; Kathy Steele and her work on complex trauma and disassociation; and Francine Shapiro; Roger Solomon and Deborah Korn and their work on EMDR Psychotherapy.

I also have a depth of experience facilitating experiential workshops and specialise in Peer Support Programs. I really enjoy being part of a facilitation team and facilitating residential peer support workshops and other experiential workshops.
